Hundreds seek help at 2026 Anchorage Homeless Connect

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The annual Homeless Connect event held at the Egan Center drew a substantial crowd, with hundreds of individuals facing homelessness attending in search of assistance. In the previous year, the event accommodated around a thousand attendees, although organizers were initially prepared for only 500. Jessica Parks from the Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness noted that this year they anticipated serving more than a thousand people, stocked with 1,200 coats for distribution.

As the event commenced at 10 a.m. on Monday, a lengthy line of participants wrapped around the block. This initiative serves as a comprehensive resource hub, offering necessary winter supplies along with services such as obtaining state IDs, cellphones, and food stamps, while also providing information on housing options. Volunteers, including Del Bitonti, contributed their time to ensure efficient operation, enhancing the sense of community support available to those in need.
