Snow and Slushy Conditions Hit Anchorage as Winter Weather Arrives

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Residents of Anchorage experienced wintry conditions on Tuesday morning, where some areas received a light dusting of snow while the Anchorage Hillside saw several inches and higher elevations even more. An official from the Anchorage School District indicated that there were no delays in school start times but suggested that parents should check their contact details to stay informed.

By midday, much of the snow on the road had transitioned into slush as city and state crews worked diligently to address the situation. Alaska Department of Transportation spokesman Justin Shelby mentioned that crews were actively plowing slush off highways and roads in the area. As temperatures were expected to drop overnight, Shelby advised the public to anticipate icy conditions during Wednesday’s commute and urged caution, particularly at intersections.
