ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Deshalon Bosha Jelks, an Anchorage man, has entered a guilty plea in Federal court for his involvement in a robbery at Credit Union 1 located on Debarr Road in February. On Monday, Jelks appeared in court and pled guilty to a single count of Credit Union Robbery, with no plea deal in place. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on January 21.
According to prosecutors, Jelks handed a note to a teller at the Credit Union 1 on February 26, asserting that he was armed with the ‘power & authority of Jesus Christ’ and took approximately $1,701. Police were able to track a bait bill to a Costco across the street, where they arrested him. During his interrogation at the Anchorage Police Department, Jelks, who was wearing an ankle monitor, admitted to entering the credit union and requesting money but denied having a physical weapon or taking any funds, despite indicating a desperate need for cash.
