Oct. 19, 2026 – The Anchorage Assembly will convene on Tuesday, Oct. 20, to address a variety of topics including proposals for regulating police surveillance, a new requirement for candidate residency verification, and several spending initiatives. Notable financial requests encompass a $700,000 design contract for a waste-to-energy facility and a $4.23 million change order for port project rehabilitation.
Among the items of discussion are competing ordinances on surveillance technology, with one sponsored by Assembly members Keith McCormick, Sydney Scout, and Daniel Volland, aiming to enforce restrictions on various surveillance practices. Additionally, Assemblyman George Martinez will introduce a proposal requiring candidates for mayor, Assembly, and School Board to disclose and verify their residence. Public hearings for these matters are also scheduled, along with discussions on the proposed 2027 municipal budgets and potential executive branch reorganization.

West Virginia’s state legislature had the same concerns and wrote a letter with specific-information requests to Flock. Apparently Flock hasn’t answered. Please ask the same questions for us. Their letter is at: https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/privacy/monawest-virginia-lawmakers-press-flock-new-privacy-concern-do-employees.
.
Here’s part of what they asked:
1. For each year since Flock Safety’s founding and for each Flock Safety product line, how many incidents is Flock Safety aware of where raw video footage has been accessed by unauthorized users?
2. What investigations did Flock Safety conduct of each instance of unauthorized access?
3. For each instance of unauthorized access, what was the cause of the security breach?
4. What remedial steps has Flock Safety taken after each security breach to prevent recurrence?
5. If Flock Safety is “unable to determine whether CBP or HSI pilots were prompted by an incoming request or a proactive offer”. how can this legislature trust Flock Safety when it claims that Flock has never had a data sharing-request come in from a federal agency?
6. For each year since Flock Safety’s founding, how many false “Hot List” positives have been generated by (a) Flock Safety’s Falcon license plate reader; and (b) Flock Safety’s Sparrow license plate reader.
7. Based on Flock’s false-positive data, what was the accuracy rate of the Falcon /Sparrow license plate reader for all license plate “Hot List” hits in 2025?
8. For each corporate division of Flock Safety, approximately how many employees have access to all customer data?
9. How often does Flock Safety audit its employees’ access of customer data? What do the audits consist of? Do such audits comprehensively review every search, or only perform spot checks?
10. Since Flock Safety’s founding, how many employees have been found to have improperly accessed customer data?
11. How are metadata, derivative data, analytics, insights, intelligence, and extracted data from footage governed across Flock Safety’s platforms? Who owns the data?
12. How long are metadata, derivative data, analytics, insights, intelligence, and extracted data from customer products retained by Flock Safety for research purposes?
13. Please list all contracts Flock Safety has or had with entities outside the United States to conduct third-party review of Flock Safety data, metadata, derivative data, analytics, insights, intelligence, or extracted data.
14. Please provide your most recent SOC 2 Type II compliance audit.
