Anchorage Museum Celebrates International Repair Day with Fix-It Clinic

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – In honor of International Repair Day this past Saturday, the Anchorage Museum organized its second Fix-It Clinic, providing an opportunity for individuals to learn valuable repair skills. The event featured a range of experts in fields such as electronics, textiles, machinery, and more, inviting attendees to bring items in need of repair.

Dyani Lezama, one of the event organizers and state director of the Alaska Environment Research and Policy Center, expressed the clinic’s goal: to help individuals troubleshoot their items with the guidance of knowledgeable professionals, enhancing their skills for future repairs. Lezama highlighted the environmental significance of the initiative, noting the rapid growth of electronic waste, which poses challenges, particularly in Alaska. Justin Castle, an electronics specialist and owner of Eagle River Electronics, expressed his passion for fixing things and his commitment to community service through such events.
