In Anchorage, an anonymous mother is urging fellow parents to investigate the individuals distributing candy in neighborhoods where they plan to take their children for Halloween. Her concern arises from living near a registered sex offender, which makes it distressing to see that person’s home decorated for the holiday.
She emphasizes the importance of teaching her daughter and other children in the community about safety, stating, “It’s a hard lesson to learn, especially when you’re so young, but you have to know that not everybody is safe.” The Alaska State Troopers noted that while there are no specific laws against sex offenders decorating for Halloween, they recommend safety measures such as going in groups and ensuring children do not enter homes without a trusted adult.
