No indication of targeted attack behind Peltola car crash in Anchorage

Mary Peltola, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate from Alaska, was involved in a car collision over the weekend that caused injuries to her and her family. An official from the Anchorage Police Department, Gina Romero, stated that there is no evidence to suggest that the crash was a targeted attack. Romero noted, “There is nothing new to share and at this time, there are no indications that this was a targeted attack.”

The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday when a vehicle rear-ended Peltola’s car while it was stopped at an intersection. Both Peltola’s vehicle and the other car involved suffered significant damage, resulting in non-life threatening injuries for all occupants, who were subsequently taken to a local hospital. Following the accident, Peltola’s campaign manager announced the postponement of several scheduled campaign events as Peltola and her family recover.
