‘AI can generate 100 possibilities’: Former Colorado professor builds AI twin to teach storytelling

Jess Stainbrook, a former media professor from Colorado, has transitioned from traditional teaching to developing a digital version of himself designed to educate others on storytelling through artificial intelligence. Known affectionately as “Coach” by his students, Stainbrook dedicated four months to creating a 15-episode series titled “Digital Jess,” which covers writing, production, and directing.

Stainbrook describes his creation as a “digital intern,” designed to assist learners by providing guidance through each episode. He initially intended to teach at the university level but shifted his approach after realizing the limitations of traditional digital media instruction. Despite encountering challenges while mastering AI technology, he emphasizes that narrative skills remain crucial despite the accessibility of production tools. He releases each episode weekly on LinkedIn and YouTube under “Cheesesteak Theology.”
