Body camera footage related to a fatal police shooting in Anchorage back in August has still not been released, exceeding the department’s 45-day public disclosure deadline by over three weeks. The shooting took place on August 18 at around 1:34 p.m. at a multi-unit residential complex located on the 200 block of East 9th Avenue, specifically the Adelaide Single Room Occupancy apartments, as noted by Police Chief Sean Case.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched following reports of an armed, suicidal woman named Lora Brady, 53, who was allegedly pointing a firearm at others within the facility. Police, including crisis negotiators and SWAT teams, engaged with Brady, who was later shot by Officer Misha Carlson after brandishing a weapon. The shooting, which resulted in Brady’s death, was confirmed as the seventh officer-involved shooting in Anchorage in 2026. Although initial reports indicated she was armed with a BB gun resembling a higher-caliber firearm, the footage from body-worn cameras did not capture the entire incident. The video’s release has been postponed as the Office of Special Prosecutions is still finalizing its investigation, according to an update provided by APD on October 3.
